The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, through the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, Department of Career Services, and the MA Division of Apprentice Standards has been awarded a $2.9 million American Apprenticeship Grant. These funds will be used to support the Massachusetts Apprenticeship Initiative (MAI) which will support 300 MA residents to gain apprenticeship training.
The Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium (NAMC), a partnership of 4 workforce investment boards and regional manufacturers, is actively working with local manufacturers to enroll new hires and existing workers into registered apprenticeship training programs. NAMC can offer up to $5,000 per apprentice to help subsidize specialized training delivered outside the workplace or for internal training.
Bostik, a global leader in adhesive technologies, partnered with NAMC to train two apprentices.

The Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium has helped Bostik address this shortage by expanding its reach with recruiting efforts and training opportunities. The Consortium’s Apprenticeship Program has provided financial assistance enabling us to increase the skills of our workers more quickly than traditional methods with limited interruptions. The partnership has yielded tremendous benefits for our business. Although the program has been great for Bostik, the real economic benefit to the North Shore would be for all manufacturers to partner with the Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium to help keep manufacturing jobs alive and well in Boston’s North Shore.”
